Sofiya Solomyanskaya

Esther Boyer College of Music, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA

My name is Sofiya Solomyanskaya. I am a violinist and began playing at the age of 5. I am currently a second-year music student at Temple University, studying with Hirono Oka. At Temple University, I am a recipient of the Edgar Ortenberg Bowed String Instrument Scholarship award and Boyer College award.

During middle school and high school, I had a wonderful opportunity for my music studies to be funded by the Primavera Fund, during the years of 2017-2022. I was the first violin at PYAO and PYO (2019-2022); while a student in these programs, I had opportunities to perform at the Kimmel Center of Performing Arts Center. I also participated in the Temple Preparatory Program for Young and Gifted Musicians (2015-2021), where I studied chamber music with a member of the Jasper Quartet. During the summers, I have attended Kinhaven School of Music Junior and Senior sessions (2017-2022).

I have had opportunities to participate in masterclasses with amazing musicians such as Francesca dePasquale, Elmar Oliveira, and Rachel Barton Pine.

My goals as a musician are to grow as much as possible as a performer and to perfect my craft, as well as learn as much as I can about it.
